Gabriel Kuri: with personal thanks to their contractual thingness
Familiar materials and transactional scenarios permeate the work of Gabriel Kuri. Through the lens of the transactional, this bilingual publication takes a comprehensive look at over a decade of the artist's practice. The cover is Pressboard, a material often used by accountants and hospitals. The book is organized on a system of exchange between two shades of orange, the circle and the square, and Agipo, a typeface by Radim Pesko. The circle and one shade of orange represent the Spanish sections, while their counterparts stand for the English. The work and subsequent informational sections exist as an intersection of the two, a transaction between the two languages Kuri often occupies. Recipient of a 2015 50 Books 50 Covers award for book design.
